Giants' players react following critical victory over Cowboys.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Here is some of the post-game reaction from members of the New York Giants following their much-needed 27-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Jon Beason: "We're a scrappy bunch"

Middle linebacker Jon Beason, who had a team-high 11 tackles, echoed what has become a constant refrain around the Giants.

"We're a scrappy bunch. I still feel like we're leaving plays out there. We have a lot of room to grow. Whenever you think you have arrived, then that's it, that's the ceiling. We're going to go back and watch this tape closely. From a stats standpoint, it wasn't pretty, but we got the win. So we're happy about the win, huge divisional win for us. But we're going to go back and we know we can be better."

Rueben Randle on the Giants being "gritty"

"Well, it means that we're not going to stop, no matter what's thrown in front of us. We're going to face adversity each and every week, and it's not really going to affect us at all. We're still in the game ... and until the clock says zero, we still have a chance to win a game and that's why we're going to keep pushing."

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on his pick six

"Once I saw the release of it, it was outside and I had outside leverage. I didn't know if it was going for six, but I knew I was going to have a chance to get it."

DRC admitted coach Tom Coughlin "gave it to me a little bit" for show-boating as he headed toward the end zone.

"It's always a good feeling. It's just the emotions get the best of you. You can't do it all the time. You definitely know Coach is going to be right there waiting to get you, so I have to think twice about that."

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- What did we learn Sunday from the New York Giants' 27-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys? Well, the primary thing we learned is that these might not be your 2013 or 2014 New York Giants.

The 2013 Giants never had a chance, starting 0-6 en route to a 7-9 year. The 2014 Giants were 3-2 before a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles started a season-wrecking seven-game losing streak. This year a 3-2 start was also followed by a blowout Week 6 loss to the Eagles. The difference is that in Week 7 this Giants team responded.

They didn't respond in pretty fashion. They responded with determination. They surrendered 233 yards rushing. They scuffled a little bit in the passing game. They benefited from three Matt Cassel interceptions and a muffed Dallas punt. They won, though, improving to 4-3. If the Carolina Panthers defeat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night the Giants will go to bed with sole possession of first place in the NFC East.

"They're fighters, they're scrappy. They're scrappy. We're gritty and scrappy, that's what we describe ourselves as, and they are," said head coach Tom Coughlin. "They battle and they fight."

This was the first time the Giants had beaten the Cowboys in six tries.

"I was think about that, that's the whole time I've been here," said defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins. "Good to get over that hump.

"It's huge, being in a big situation like that. Last year when we lost the Philly game it started a six-game skid for us, six or seven (it was seven). This year we had a bad game. We didn't play the best today, but we responded and we did enough to win the game."

It's about time Orleans Darkwa played

Through six games, Orleans Darkwa never saw the field on offense. Through six games, the Giants struggled to establish any kind of running attack. Trailing 3-0 in the second quarter the Giants finally turned to the second-year running back. On his first series of the season he carried four times for 41 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown run during which he broke through tackles and dove to the end zone, as the Giants went 79 yards in seven plays for a 7-3 lead.

Darkwa said he didn't know entering the game that he was finally going to get an opportunity to contribute on offense.

"Had to make the most of it," Darkwa said. "I wasn't really expecting it. They called my number, I just had to be ready."

Darkwa finished with eight carries for 48 yards, both career highs for the second-year man from Tulane. The eight carries was the most of any Giants' running back on Sunday. He had nine carries for 23 yards combined for the Giants and Miami Dolphins in 2014.

Devon Kennard can't be 100 percent healthy

It's the only way to explain why Kennard, the most dynamic player in the Giants' front seven, was continually taken off the field on passing downs. Kennard missed the previous two weeks with a hamstring injury, but returned Sunday in what amounted to part-time duty. He played mostly on running downs.

Something has to be up with Josh Brown

The veteran placekicker has hit some AWFUL kickoffs this season. None were worse than a second-quarter kickoff after the Giants had taken a 7-3 second-quarter lead. The ball went sideways, barely reached the 20-yard line in the air and went out of bounds at the 10-yard line. The subsequent penalty gave Dallas the ball at the 40-yard line. They converted that into a field goal, which could have been more if Devin Stree of Dallas had not been called for an offensive pass interference penalty that negated a 31-yard Cowboys touchdown pass.

Brown had a fourth-quarter kickoff that barely got off the ground and two other kickoffs that just reach the goal line. Unless something is physically wrong with Brown, which there doesn't seem to be on field goals, his kickoff struggles are odd.

Damontre is in the doghouse

You had to understand this was coming when Coughlin said during the week that he didn't trust Damontre Moore, but the third-year defensive end was inactive on Sunday. Like it or not, and whatever it means for the pass rush, Moore is going to have to earn his way back onto the field by getting back into the good graces of Coughlin and Steve Spagnuolo with his work during the week at practice.

Matt Cassel is not the Cowboys' savior

Dallas went to journeyman Matt Cassel at quarterback after three straight losses with Brandon Weeden as the replacement for injured star Tony Romo. They did so because of the losses, and because Weeden simply did not make enough plays. Cassel had his moments on Sunday, including a fantastic throw on a 25-yard touchdown to Devin Street to tie the game at 20 before Dwayne Harris's game-winning 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Cassel, though, was intercepted three times. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie had two of those, including one he returned 58 yards for a score. Brandon Meriweather had the other one at the goal line, intercepting a long pass for Terrance Williams that seemed to hang in the air for an eternity, giving Meriweather time to track the ball down.

The Cowboys should get injured stars Romo and Dez Bryant back eventually, but Sunday's loss makes it look increasingly like it might be too late for Dallas when that finally happens.

For once, the special teams were special

Well, aside from Brown's kickoffs, anyway.

Brown made up for his kickoff follies with a pair of field goals. He has now made 19 straight field goals, eclipsing the franchise record of 17 straight he set a year ago.

Harris' kickoff return touchdown tied Clarence Childs' franchise record (set in 1964) and was the first kick return touchdown for the Giants since David Wilson had a 97-yard kickoff return against the New Orleans Saints in 2012.

Myles White was Johnny on the Spot in the final minutes, making a game-sealing recovery on a muffed punt by Cole Beasley of Dallas.

Brad Wing averaged 47.0 yards on five punts.

Run defense? What run defense?

Remember the days early in the season when the Giants were -- statistically -- the best run defense in the NFL? Well, those days seem looooong ago. Even with linebacker Devon Kennard back in the lineup and with Jon Beason playing nearly every snap for the first time this season the run defense was gashed. The Giants gave up 233 rushing yards on 41 carries (5.7 yards per rush). Darren McFadden of the Cowboys had a career-high 152 yards rushing on 29 carries. The Cowboys gashed the Giants by using reverses and sweeps to unheard-of wide receiver Lucky Whitehead, who had four carries for 35 yards. Dallas had four running plays of 13 yards or longer.

To be sure I have to watch the replay of the game. It seemed, however, that Dallas did almost all of its damage rushing to the edges.

The Giants got by without a pass rush or a run defense because of the play of their special teams and because they intercepted Cassel three times. They must, however, find a way to get back to controlling the run game.

Odell Beckham? Targets? Eh, whatever

So much for all that "Odell Beckham needs more targets" stuff. Beckham had four catches for 35 yards on Sunday. He was targeted only twice in the second half. Beckham, for one of the rare times in his two years with the Giants, was pretty much a non-factor in a game the Giants actually won.

The big plays in the passing game from Rueben Randle, who had a Beckham-esque one-handed, 44-yard catch that bailed the Giants out of a third-quarter third-and-5 from their own 6-yard line, and Dwyane Harris, who had a 38-yard catch-and-run on a second-quarter slant pass. The Giants also got a 39-yard run from Shane Vereen and a 15-yard scoring run from Darkwa.

It was important to see contributions from so many other players and areas, but the Giants will need more from Beckham going forward.

Jon Beason can play a whole game and not break

With Uani 'Unga inactive due to a neck injury, veteran middle linebacker Jon Beason was forced to play a majority of the defensive snaps. Beason, oft-injured as he is and having dealt with his own knee issues in recent days, made it through the entire game. He ended up leading the Giants in tackles with 11. With the Giants getting gashed all over the place in the run game it is hard to tell if any were impact plays (none were for losses), but it was nice to see the Giants' defensive quarterback hold up.

The Giants survive an emotional rollercoaster to come away with the win over Dallas. Take a look back at the plays that changed the game.

So, who saw the New York Giants' Orleans Darkwa, the defense and special teams carrying them to a victory over the Dallas Cowboys?

Anywone? Anyone? Beuller?

Nope, me neither.

But that is exactly what happened. Here are your plays that changed Sunday's game.

The Darkwa Knight Rises

With Odell Beckham and Rueben Randle struggling to get separation, the Giants' offense was struggling to get in rhythm. But on their third drive Darkwa got his first carries of the season, and he made an immediate impact. He burst on the field with rushes of 7, 9, 10, and 15 yards on the drive. That final run for 15 yards culminated in a diving touchdown as he was getting tackled.

Runs like this helped to energize the entire team.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie goes Prime Time ... At Mid-field

The Giants' offense didn't do much against the Cowboys, only scoring seven points. But that was at least partly because the defense and special teams came up with four takeaways in the second half. With 11:38 remaining in the 3rd quarter, DRC set the tone for the remainder of the game.

On second-and-9, after a 1-yard run by Darren McFadden, rather than opt for another run, Matt Cassel dropped back to pass. He intended to hit Terrance Williams, however the Giants -- current -- No. 1 corner broke hard on the ball and returned it 58 yards to put the Giants up 17-13.

This play echoed one from the first half when DRC came within a hair's width of picking off a pass for what would have easily been a touchdown. On that play the ball just slipped through DRC's fingers. On this play he hung on to the ball and did his best Deion Sanders' impression as he started celebrating his impending touchdown at the 44 yard line.

...Or at least as close as anyone on a Tom Coughlin team can come.

It was Rodgers-Cromartie's first interception of the night, but not his last. He had a second one on the first play of the final quarter.

Rueben Randle Shows Those LSU Hands

Coming off the Giants' second takeaway -- an interception by Brandon Meriweather of a floating pass by Matt Cassel with 8:00 in the third quarter -- the Giants found themselves backed up on their own 1 yard line. After a pair of runs by Rashad Jennings, the Giants had a 3rd & 5 on their own 6 yard line. Rather than just go for the 1st down, Eli Manning channeled his inner Eli Manning and hit Rueben Randle for 44 yards down the right sideline.

This play was eerily reminiscent of The Catch by Odell Beckham, which he almost repeated himself in the first half.

It must be something about those LSU receivers. Maybe that's why the Giants keep going back down to The Bayou for their receivers and DBs

The Giants Score On Special Teams. Wait ... The Giants Score On Special Teams!?

The New York Football Giants haven't scored on special teams since David Wilson's phenomenal night in New Orleans in 2012.

Since Wilson's career was tragically cut short, the Giants' return game has been a bathroom break at best, and a source of chest pains at worst for Giants fans.

Despite that, many fans were incredulous when Jerry Reese signed former Dallas Cowboys' special teams ace -- and occasional receiver -- Dwayne Harris to a $17 million contract at the start of the 2015 free agency period.

Harris has been a core contributor on all of the much-improved special teams units, as well as an increasingly important receiver (he is on his way to a career year). But after Cassel connected with Devin Street on a 25 yard touchdown to tie the game, Harris stole back the momentum from Dallas, gave the Giants back the lead, and made Giants' history in the process.

This play was the Giants' first special teams score in a very long three years.

Harris said it was "just a middle return" and that it was "blocked perfectly."

"We've been overdue for a long time," Harris said after the game. "I was one block away, one man away. Tonight it was blocked perfectly. Anybody could of run through the hole that was made."

This was also the first 100-yard kick off return for a touchdown by a Giant since Clarence Childs in 1964. Going back even further, this was the first time since Nov. 4, 1951 that the Giants have had an interception returned for a touchdown and a kickoff returned for a touchdown in the same game. For perspective, Tom Coughlin was 5 years old at the time.

The Giants' defense would ultimately step up and come up with a key stop on the Cowboys' final drive, giving the offense back the ball after Dallas failed to convert a fourth-and-8. The Giants couldn't pick up a first down to run out the clock, but a great punt by Brad Wing, and a heads up fumble recovery by Myles White, got the ball back.

Giants win!

The Giants snapped a five-game losing streak against the Cowboys with the victory.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Dwayne Harris came back to haunt his former team Sunday, returning a kickoff 100 yards to break a 20-20 tie in the fourth quarter and help the New York Giants defeat the Dallas Cowboys, 27-20.

Harris, the former Dallas special teams ace, returned the kickoff after Matt Cassel had hit Devin Street with a 25-yard touchdown pass to tie the game with 7:14 remaining. The kickoff return tied the Giants' franchise record for longest return, set by Clarence Childs on Dec. 6, 1964.

"We've been overdue for a long time," Harris said after the game. "I was one block away, one man away. Tonight it was blocked perfectly. Anybody could of run through the hole that was made."

The kickoff return was Harris first for a touchdown in five NFL seasons. He has two touchdowns as a punt returner.

"I'm always thinking about scoring," Harris said. "Every time I get the ball in my hands I'm thinking about scoring."

The Giants improved to 4-3 (2-2 in the NFC East) with the victory and will have at least a share of the NFC East lead depending upon the outcome of Sunday night's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers. Dallas is 2-4, having lost four straight games since quarterback Tony Romo suffered a broken clavicle.

"They fight. They're scrappy. Gritty and scrappy. They battle and fight," head coach Tom Coughlin said of the Giants.

The Giants trailed, 13-10, at halftime, but took advantage of three Cassel interceptions in the second half. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie had two of those, returning one in the third quarter 58 yards for a touchdown.

After Harris's kickoff return Dallas drove to the Giants' 30-yard line, but the Giants came up with a stop. A fourth-and- pass from Cassel to James Hanna gained only six yards and the Giants took over with 1:48 left.

The Giants were forced to punt with 1:36 remaining, but Cole Beasley of Dallas muffed the ball and Myles White of the Giants recovered at the Dallas 16-yard line. The Giants ran out the clock from their.

Eli Manning completed 13-of-24 passes for 170 yards for the Giants. The Giants had their first 100-yard rushing game of the season. Shane Vereen had four carries for 56 yards and Orleans Darkwa, seeing his first action, had eight carries for 48 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown run.

Odell Beckham and Larry Donnell each had four receptions for the Giants. Josh Brown made two field goals and now has a franchise record of 19 straight.

The victory was Tom Coughlin's 100th as Giants coach.

What's Next?

The Giants travel to face the New Orleans Saints next Sunday.

Giants-Cowboys first-half open thread.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants have lost five straight games to the Dallas Cowboys and are 1-9 vs. the Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles the past two seasons. Can the 3-3 Giants reverse their fortunes at MetLife Stadium Sunday against the 2-3 Cowboys?

The Giants come off a 27-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday and could re-establish themselves as NFC East contenders with a victory. The Cowboys have lost three straight games, but come off a bye week. Matt Cassel will make his first start at quarterback for Dallas.

Linebacker Devon Kennard and defensive end Robert Ayers return to action for the Giants today. Defensive end Damontre Moore will be inactive.

Moore's penalty on Monday was his 16th in 37 NFL games.. He leads the Giants this season with three sacks, but also has three penalties. The roughing the passer call was third roughing the passer or unnecessary roughness penalty of Moore's career.

Looking through history at some of the coaches and players who had the biggest impacts on both franchises.

The year was 1958. Two Texas oilmen, both of whom had passion for the game of football, tried to purchase existing NFL clubs and then relocate them to Dallas.

For almost two years, Lamar Hunt attempted to buy the Chicago Cardinals. During this identical juncture, Clint Murchison, Jr. was in the midst of working up a contract for the sale of the Washington Redskins. Hunt would fail. Murchison succeeded - only to have the deal voided because of excessive clause changes.

Hunt would go on to invent the American Football League (AFL) and own the Dallas Texans (later relocated to Kansas City and renamed the Chiefs). At the same time, the NFL felt the league must also have a presence in Big D and instantly installed the very first expansion team: the Dallas Steers. Murchison would later purchase the infant franchise and change the name to the Rangers (then later the Cowboys).

Because the Rangers were basically a rush project, the club was invented after the college draft. This meant the team must be comprised of players from existing NFL franchises via the first-ever player expansion draft. Three players were selected from each of the 12 NFL squads.

From the Giants, backup quarterback Don Heinrich was selected along with offensive linemen Al Barry and Buzz Guy.

So, from that very first year of existence for Dallas in 1960, the Giants and the Cowboys have had a connection - apart from being in the same division for the past 54 years.

There have been numerous players and coaches who have mingled among the rosters of both the Giants and the Cowboys. Today's rosters see this trend continue with George Selvie and Dwayne Harris, both former Cowboys; while on the other side of the fence Dallas Head Coach Jason Garrett, Tight ends Coach Mike Pope and Assistant Head Coach Jimmy Robinson each wore blue at some point.

Then there are the subtle coincidences with each team. Long snapper Zak DeOssie's father Steve played for both teams. LB Devon Kennard's dad Derek played right guard for the Cowboys for two seasons.

And there have been many more: DT Chris Canty, FB and coach Maurice Carthon, CB Justin Anderson, DT Marvin Austin, RB and coach Dan Reeves, LB Dan Conner, QB Craig Morton, Special Teams Coach Joe DeCamillis and WR Mike Sherrard, to name a few.

But, who were the greatest connectors between the New York Football Giants and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club? Let's list the Top 5.

5. Sean Payton - Payton has found success as head coach of the New Orleans Saints and brought the Big Easy their very first Super Bowl trophy home after the 2009 season. He was the Cowboys Assistant Head Coach/Quarterback Coach from 2003-2005 and helped groom a young Tony Romo. Before the Dallas gig, he was Offensive
Coordinator for the Giants under Head Coach Jim Fassel. During the 2002 season and lackluster offensive showings, Coach Fassell took over the play calling, to which the Giants would make the playoffs as a Wild Card team. The following year, the Cowboys
hired him before he was supposedly fired. When he was hired by the Saints in 2006, they made the playoffs and Payton was named AP Coach of the Year. Through last season, he had compiled an 87-53 record with New Orleans.

4. Everson Walls - This Cowboys cornerback signed as an undrafted free-agent and lit up the Dallas defensive secondary from minute one. He led the league in interceptions his first two seasons (11, 7) and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie. After an eight-year career with Dallas, Walls was named All-Pro three times, went to the Pro Bowl four years, led the NFL in interceptions three different seasons and tied the record for career Pro Bowl interceptions. He was the 1980's version of "Revis Island" as opposing QBs quit throwing to his side of the field. The Giants signed him to a two-year $1 million dollar contract. He was instantly installed at safety in an already stellar defense led by Lawrence Taylor, Erik Howard, Carl Banks, Mark Collins, Pepper Johnson and Leonard Marshall. That 1990 season produced a stellar 13-3 record and a Super Bowl berth against the Buffalo Bills. In that game, Walls tackled Bills RB Thurman Thomas on what would have been a sure touchdown with less than two minutes remaining.

3. Bill Parcells - To any Giants fan, Parcells would most certainly top most any list. However, with the tie-in also being related to the Cowboys, our former coach had mixed reviews. Parcells won two Super Bowls while with the Giants and had a knack for creating monster defenses with his linebacker's coach mentality. He was named NFL Coach of the Year in 1986. With Big Blue, he compiled a 77-49-1 regular season record and went 8-3 in the post season. After a brief retirement, he coached the New England Patriots and the New York Jets before another retirement. Then, after three continuous 5-11 seasons, Dallas coxed him out of his life of fishing in 2003. The Cowboys went 10-6 in his first tenure as head coach, but lost in the Wild Card playoffs. After missing the post season with 6-10 and 9-7 seasons in 2004 and 2005, respectively, Dallas qualified again for the playoffs in 2006 but lost 21-20 to the Seattle Seahawks on Tony Romo's botched hold on the game winning field goal attempt.

2. Herschel Walker - This college running back Phenom played for the Cowboys twice, but it was his first stint that was the most memorable - and had the greatest effect on the Giants. In his third NFL rookie season, Walker amassed over 2,000 yards rushing and receiving. During the following 1989 season, Walker was abruptly traded to the Minnesota Vikings in a blockbuster deal that sent shock waves throughout the NFL for years to come. The Cowboys ended up initially with three first round picks, three second round selections, a third and a sixth rounder - all courtesy of the Vikings. Then head coach Jimmy Johnson parlayed those extra picks with numerous trades on draft day that would eventually bring in RB Emmitt Smith, DT Russell Maryland, S Darren Woodson, LB Jesse Solomon, WR Alvin Harper, LB Dixon Edwards and CB Isiaac Holt. The extra draft picks, which would translate into multiple other draft slots, would enable the Cowboys to take the short cut towards respectability eventual Super Bowl champions. Walker's 1995 season with the Giants was less memorable.

1. Tom Landry - Looking back, it is almost inconceivable to see Landry, known as one of the greatest and innovative defensive minds, as the Giants defensive coordinator in 1959 and yet never received an invite to become the head coach.

An engineering student and native Texan, he was offered the head coach of the newly-formed Houston Oilers of the AFL but wanted to be in the same arena as what he considered to be the more stable league. Landry was a stellar defensive back with the New York Yankees in the rival All-America Football Conference. When that league merged into the NFL, the Giants claimed Landry in the player dispersal draft. He eventually became player-coach and is credited with inventing the umbrella and the 4-3 defense. From 1954-1959 he was the Giants defensive coordinator and was recognized with building dominant defenses with the likes of Sam Huff, Rosey Grier, Emlen Tunnell, Jim Katcavage, Lindon Crow and Andy Robustelli. In fact, the 1959 Giants defense gave up a league low 14.2 points per game. At the same time Landry was starting his family and contemplated whether to become an industrial engineer or try his hand as a head coach. His wife Alicia, loved New York but yearned to raise their children back in their home state of Texas. Although the Oilers offer was much more than the $34,000 salary offer, he chose the newly-formed Dallas Rangers as well as the NFL.

A couple of weeks after Dallas hired Landry, Giants Head Coach Jim Lee Howell abruptly announced that he was retiring. Had the ownership of the team known this earlier, they would have made a bigger push for their defensive guru. As it turned out, the Cowboys would go on to win two Super Bowls and record an astounding 250 wins. Landry was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980. As Dallas' head coach, the Cowboys earned the longest streak of consecutive winning seasons with 20. There is little doubt those same successful seasons could have had the Giants written all over them.

Maybe it's just because it is the rival Cowboys and no can stomach picking them, but your BBV staff unanimously favors Big Blue this week.

Can the New York Giants get their chins off the floor, to use Tom Coughlin's expression, and keep their season pointed in the right direction with a victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium? Here is what your Big Blue View staff members think.

Alex Sinclair (6-0)

I'm going to pick the Giants to rebound from a nasty game in Philadelphia and take back their pride with a strong showing against a Cowboys team that will be starting its third quarterback this year, Matt Cassel, and will likely be without their top receiver, Dez Bryant.

The defense held up their end last week, but the Giants offense contributed as much to the other teams' points total as they did their own. That can't happen, and Eli Manning knows it. I think this will be a statement game where the gameplan will be to let Manning and this offense play within its limits. With Odell Beckham Jr., Rueben Randle, and Shane Vereen, the Giants have plenty of options to pick apart a Dallas offense that will admittedly be improved since their last meeting.

I'm taking the Giants at home against a slumping team making desperate moves at quarterback.

Final score: Giants 34, Cowboys 13

Chris Pflum (1-5)

This game is shaping up to be a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside of an enigma. It's a turducken of questions for both teams.

Will Odell Beckham and Rueben Randle be healthy enough to separate so the Giants can run their offense? Can the offensive line hold up? Who will be healthy enough to suit up on the defense? And the ultimate question: Will the New York Giants show the grit and relentless perseverance they claim to have and keep the mistakes from week 6 from snowballing into a lost season?

Will Dez Bryant play? If so, how much and how well? Will Dallas hold him back for fear of their investment self-destructing, or will they let him play all-out to beat the Giants, then risk a "Hakeem Nicks" downward spiral? Will Matt Cassel play like the career backup he has been, or will he step up? Will Christine Michael do in Dallas what he couldn't do in Seattle?

But ultimately, the Giants have one less question mark on their team, and it happens to be at the most important position. I believe in Eli, and I believe that the Giants can, and will, rebound from Monday night.

Final score: Giants 28, Cowboys 20

Stephen Milewski (4-2)

It's a big question mark if the Giants are healthy this Sunday, especially key players such as Odell Beckham Jr., Devon Kennard and Robert Ayers, among others. The Giants offense sputtered in Monday night's contest against the Philadelphia Eagles, turning the ball over and struggling to move the chains in the second half. The Giants seem to have a sour taste in their mouths after their heartbreaking Week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, so I expect them to come out, as Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy would say, "guns blazing."

My X-Factor, if he is able to suit up in this game, is Robert Ayers. The defensive end is arguably one of the best pass rushers on the Giants roster and would become a huge bonus in pressuring quarterback Matt Cassel, who will make his first start for the Cowboys this week. While the Giants' offense has not looked spectacular during the last few weeks, the Cowboys seem to be having more struggles, particularly with stars Tony Romo and Dez Bryant out for a few more weeks and an overall lackluster rushing attack. I think the Giants will move back to one game over .500 when this one is all said and done, but the Cowboys will give them a good contest, because they're the Cowboys and it's never easy against them.

Final score: Giants 24, Cowboys 20

Keane Macadaeg (3-3)

The Cowboys are "revamping" their offense by starting Matt Cassel and Cristine Michael. These changes might end up being for the better, but these still aren't names to be afraid of. The Cowboys still don't have anything resembling a Dez Bryant replacement so there's really no excuse for the Cowboys to put up points.

The Cowboys defensive front is something to be scared of though. Say what you want about Greg Hardy, but he probably accumulated more pressures against atom Brady than the entire Giants defensive line in every game this season. Randy Gregory will also make an appearance so Ereck Flowers and especially Marshall Newhouse will have their hands full - putting it mildly. The Cowboys will also get to field Sean Lee and Rolando McClain together which is a rarity. While their secondary isn't good, neither was the Eagles but their front was able to shut the Giants out for 90 percent of the game.

The Giants offense is slacking a bit as they've struggled scoring points. They need to regroup and rethink their strategies (giving Andre Williams carries, leaving Newhouse out on an island, not throwing to Odell Beckham) if they want to make a run for the division title.

Final Score: Giants 20, Cowboys 13

Mike Gallop (4-2)

It's a simple formula really. Matt Cassel = bounce back week. The Giants defense will be playing angry after the offense gave them no shot last week. The Patriots Cassel of 2008 ain't walking through that tunnel. We should be able to create turnovers and mayhem, and give the offense enough opportunities to score TDs.

Final score: Giants 24, Cowboys 14

Jesse Bartolis (3-3)

(From Jesse's weekly picks against the point spread)

Time for depressing stat of the day! The New York Giants currently hold a 1-9 record against Philadelphia and Dallas since 2013 with their win coming against Matt Barkley-led Eagles. Yikes! Last week the Giants got beat up front and couldn't generate any sort of offense this week could lead to similar problems as the return of Greg Hardy and possibly Randy Gregory add a dynamic that could be difficult for the Giants to handle. Despite all that being said, the Giants are at home and have Eli Manning and the Cowboys are trotting out Matt Cassel. Plus, I'll be in attendance this week as I make the trek from Rochester to East Rutherford to watch my beloved G-men.

Pick: This team seems like a resilient bunch, more so then teams in the past and that's what I'm banking on. With trepidation, and because I'm a homer, I'll take the Giants to win by more than 3.5

Valentine's View (3-3)

Over at Blogging The Boys, I told the Cowboys fans that I really have no idea what to expect from this game -- from either team. That's the honest truth. No clue which Giants team shows up at MetLife Stadium. Will it be the gritty one that plays its way through mistakes? Will it be the defeated one that folds its tent and goes home at the first sign of stormy weather? No idea. What will the impact of Matt Cassel, Christine Michael and Greg Hardy be for Dallas? Again, no idea.

I have to pick someone, though. Because I want to be an optimist, because I want to believe that there is a stronger personality to this team, because I really don't want to end up feeling like I wasted the 2½-hour trip to the Meadowlands and back I'm going to pick the Giants. I'm going to do that with trepidation rather than conviction because we've seen this situation too many times from the Giants in recent years, and we've seen it end badly again and again. So, I will pick the Giants. But, don't go and bet your hard-earned cash on my say-so.

Final score: Giants 30, Cowboys 24
