Here is a brief look at the Pro Football focus grades and the snap counts from Thursday's New York Giants vs. Chicago Bears game.

PFF Grades

Offense

Best
Justin Pugh +3.9
Will Beatty +2.9
Jim Cordle +1.8
Bear Pascoe +1.7
Victor Cruz +1.6
Reuben Randle +1.6
Brandon Jacobs +1.2

Worst
Larry Donnell - 2.1
David Diehl - 2.1

Takeaways: Great to see some solid scores from the offensive line, which played much better. Pugh had +2.6 in run-blocking, a positive sign for the rookie right tackle.

Defense

Best
Mike Patterson +1.4
Spencer Paysinger +1.3

Worst
Antrel Rolle -2.8
Shaun Rogers -2.8
Prince Amukamara -2.3
Keith Rivers -1.9
Terrell Thomas -1.8
Jason Pierre-Paul -1.5

Takeaways: It's really distressing to see Pierre-Paul in negative numbers. He just isn't the same player post-back surgery.

Takeaways: That's not a lot of snaps for Conner, but the Giants did run the ball well with the fullback in the game. My personal belief is also that the Giants have to begin giving Donnell and Adrien Robinson (if he ever gets healthy) the majority of the playing time at tight end.

Eli Manning, Tom Coughlin react to the close loss

The difference between 1-5 and 0-6 in the standings may not be so great, but in terms of morale and confidence moving forward it would certainly carry weight.

The New York Giants were that close to rallying back against a formidable Chicago Bears team Thursday night to get their first victory, but a late Eli Manning interception cost the Giants the win and dug the team into an even greater hole. Yet coach Tom Coughlin remains confident in his quarterback.

"I'm fully confident (in Manning)," Coughlin said. "It's the same thing we said in Dallas. It was 30-24. We had the ball in the middle of the field. I'm very, very confident we're going to score and win the game. And I will continue to be.

'We're all sick of it. We're sick of the losing.' - Tom Coughlin

"You continue to support (Manning), to put out the issues, to try and understand how it happened so it doesn't happen again ... He's been too successful for so many years throwing the ball."

On the final interception, Manning admitted his pass was too high and he knew he missed an open receiver. Internally, he's dealing with the fact he made the mistake that cost the Giants a win.

Given his history of comebacks, this loss was especially tough. Used to being the reason his Giants can rally late, his level of frustration is even greater because this one dropped his team to 0-6.

"It's frustrating not winning, and it's frustrating because I don't feel like I'm doing my part to get this team some wins and some chances," Manning said. "Guys are doing their parts, and I need to start doing mine.

"I feel bad for my teammates. I feel bad for my coaches. Everybody is fighting every day, and I'm fighting, too. I'm trying to get a win for these guys, but you know, it's tough. It's definitely tough at times when you don't feel like you're playing your best."

Teammate Brandon Jacobs, who had the best game in his first start in more than two years, has known Manning for a long time. After the game, he offered his quarterback no advice other than to "stick with it."

Antrel Rolle said in the Giants locker room the players don't point fingers, and veteran Justin Tuck said despite how frustrating or disappointing the loss might have been, it isn't fair to blame Manning for the loss.

Perhaps Coughlin summed it up best when he said it takes a team effort to get a win, and that process begins again on Monday.

"You have to go back to work. You have to bust your tail. You have to put everything you can into preparation and try to go win a game just like you'd do any under any other normal circumstance," the coach said. "It gets a little tougher, obviously, the first day of the week when the players are down and low. But this group comes back up. We're all sick of it. We're sick of the losing, but we put ourselves in this position and there's only one way to get out of it."

The patient, in this case the New York Giants, is DOA. The Giants' 2013 season is dead. If they were still breathing prior to Thursday night's game, which is debatable, the Chicago Bears delivered the death blow with a 27-21 victory.

Let's go over the remains with our traditional post-game autopsy report. I mean, our traditional 'Kudos & Wet Willies' review.

Kudos To ...

Brandon Jacobs -- Jacobs had a turn back the clock performance Thursday night, carrying 22 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns. He ran hard, harder than he probably has in years, going over 100 yards for first time since a 101-yard performance against the Dallas Cowboys Dec. 11, 2011. I have my doubts that Jacobs can bring that kind of energy and productivity consistently but you have to give it up to him for what he did Thursday. It was a pretty remarkable performance.

Jon Beason --This was an impressive debut for Beason, especially defending the run. He had 12 tackles, 11 of them solo, and seven of those considered "stops." Beason showed more sideline-to-sideline range than might have been expected from a player who has had micro-fracture knee surgery and a torn Achilles tendon in the past three years.

John Conner -- The Giants moved Conner in at fullback and Bear Pascoe went back to his normal blocking tight end role. It was no coincidence that this turned into the Giants' best rushing effort of the season. Conner did an excellent job leading the way for Jacobs, especially in the first half.

Offensive Line -- This much-maligned group played well. There was a push in the running game with good work from pretty much everyone, including the tight ends. Eli Manning was sacked only once, and had adequate time to throw most of the night. There was some noticeably good work from right tackle Justin Pugh, among others.

Wet Willies To ...

Eli Manning -- It really doesn't matter at this point who was at fault for which interceptions, which is something we might delve into in greater detail later. What matters is three more Manning interceptions and a chance to win a game thrown away. Manning has done great things for the Giants, and will likely do great things again in the future. This season, though, nothing seems to be going right.

Pass Rush -- What pass rush? Mathias Kiwanuka actually managed to hit Jay Cutler twice, which amounted to the entirety of the Giants' pass rush. This was another invisible performance for Jason Pierre-Paul and Justin Tuck. Perry Fewell tried, dialing up a healthy number of blitzes throughout the game, but the Giants don't have any linebackers who can get home on those. If third-round pick Damontre Moore can ever get healthy the Giants need to get him on the field and see if he can help.

Secondary --The Giants had no answers for Brandon Marshall (11 catches, 2 TDs), Martellus Bennett (7 catches) and Alshon Jeffrey (5 catches). With no pass rush to speak of, the Bears' receivers were simply too big and too physical for the overmatched Giants to deal with.

Kwillies To ...

Rueben Randle -- If Randle and Manning can ever get on the same page they could be truly exciting to watch, as shown by the 37-yard catch and run for a touchdown that Randle had Thursday night. Unfortunately, too many bad things have happened this season when Manning has targeted Randle. two of the three interceptions Thursday were thrown toward Randle, with Manning and the young receiver clearly not reading the coverage the same way on Tim Hennings' first quarter pick six.

Final Thoughts

There really isn't a whole lot to say at this point, except thank God for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Without them the Giants would be the worst team in the league.

It is painful to watch a quarterback and head coach who brought so much winning, and so much class, to the Giants' organization go through this. There is, however, no end in sight. The Giants will likely be underdogs in all 10 of their remaining games, and there is no cavalry coming to the rescue. As Coughlin said after the game "What changes do we want to make? I don’t see it."

Just about the only change that will help the Giants at this point is for the calendar to turn to 2014 so they can forget this year and start over.

The Giants are now 0-6 and it is time for them to begin planning for their future.

There were some good things in the New York Giants' 27-21 loss to the Chicago Bears Thursday night.

The Giants played hard and they were in the game right to the end, right until Eli Manning threw a pass six inches out of the reach of Brandon Myers that turned into a game-ending interception.

The Giants had three touchdown drives of at least 80 yards, one for 91 yards.

It was fun to see Brandon Jacobs run hard -- and well -- with 22 carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns.

Middle linebacker Jon Beason was impressive, leading the defense with 12 tackles. Beason showed surprising sideline-to-sideline ability. New fullback John Conner also did a good job opening holes for Jacobs.

Jerrel Jernigan had a 46-yard kickoff return

This is still another loss, and now the Giants are officially playing out the string and getting ready for the 2014 season.

The Giants have to understand that at this point. No more bravado about still being in the NFC East race. This season, at least the part where the Giants consider themselves a competitive team, is done. Now, over the next 10 games we see how the giants begin to sort out their future. That, really, is all there is left for them to do.

The Giants are now 0-6 for the first time since 1976.

Eli Manning and the New York Giants used to make magic in the fourth quarter. Now, all they do is make a mess. The Giants fell to 0-6 with a 27-21 loss to the Chicago Bears Thursday night, losing a chance at a come-from-behind victory when a Manning pass for Brandon Myers went off his hands and was intercepted by Tim Jennings with 2:02 left in the game.

The Giants are now 0-6 for the first time since 1976. That year they started the season 0-9, finishing 3-11.

"We did a lot of good things. We didn't win," said head coach Tom Coughlin. "We played hard, we played four good solid quarters."

The Giants had driven from their own 10-yard line to the Bears 35 when Manning tried to hit Myers across the middle. He had Myers open but threw the ball just out of the tight end's reach.

"I threw it a little too high," Manning said. "Had a guy open."

Manning was intercepted three times Thursday, including twice in his first five throws. The second interception was returned 48 yards for a touchdown by Jennings, giving the Bears a 7-0 lead less than a minute into the game. Manning now has 15 interceptions this season, the same number he threw all of last year.

"I feel like I'm not doing my part. Feel bad for my coaches. My teammates," Manning said. "Guys are doing their part. I need to start doing mine."

Manning finished the game 14-of-26 for 239 yards with a touchdown to go along with the three interceptions.

Brandon Jacobs carried 22 times for 106 yards for the Giants, their first 100-yard rushing game of the season. It is the first time Jacobs has topped 100 yards since Dec. 11, 2011 against the Dallas Cowboys.

The game was tied 14-14 in the second quarter after a 37-yard pass from Manning to Rueben Randle for a touchdown, but the Bears got a 4-yard pass from Jay Cutler to Brandon Marshall and a 40-yard field goal from Robbie Gould to take a 24-14 halftime lead.

A 52-yard field goal by Gould gave Chicago a 27-14 lead with 11:23 left in the third.

The Giants' final touchdown came when Jacobs punctuated a 9-play, 91-yard drive wtiha 1-yard run to make the score 27-21 entering the fourth quarter.

NOTE: The Giants did manage to avoid becoming the first team in NFL history to give up 30 or more points in their first six games.

Use this thread to discuss the second half of Giants vs. Bears.

In a game that is shaping up as a shootout the New York Giants trail the Chicago Bears, 24-14, at halftime of the Thursday Night Football game.

The began in what has become typical Giants' fashion, with Eli Manning throwing interceptions on the Giants' first two possessions, including one that went for a pick 6.

Some hard running from Brandon Jacobs (12 carries, 57 yards) and a 37-yard touchdown pass from Manning to Rueben Randle the Giants have made this one a game. Manning finished the half 9-of-14 for 152 yards with a touchdown and the two picks.

Jay Culter has completed 13-of-18 passes for 179 yards and two touchdown passes, both to Brandon Marshall.

The Giants are trying to avoid their first 0-6 start since 1976, and trying not to become the first NFL team to give up 30 or more points in its first six games.

New Giants Jon Beason and John Conner have each played significant roles thus far.

The Bears get the ball to start the second half.

How are you feeling about the Giants' chances in the Thursday Night Football game?

There can be little doubt that the New York Giants' confidence is shaken after an awful, unexpected 0-5 start -- the Giants' worst in a non-strike season since 1979.

How about yours? The Giants face the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football. Have you written them off, figuring it's just a lost year and nothing good will happen tonight?
