The New York Giants will once again be without wide receiver Victor Cruz (calf) on Sunday when they host the Atlanta Falcons in their season opener. Middle linebacker Jon Beason, who has not played since the preseason opener vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a knee injury, is listed as doubtful. Beason practiced in limited fashion this week.
Also out will be defensive tackle Markus Kuhn (knee), tight end Daniel Fells (foot) and defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa (foot).
With Kuhn out, second-year man Jay Bromley would likely be first in line for more snaps. Louis Nix III, claimed off waivers last week, would also likely make his Giants debut.
The loss of Fells means that Jerome Cunningham, inactive last week, will almost certainly be dressed Sunday. Fells was used extensively as a blocker out of the backfield last week. The veteran is easily the best blocker among Giants' tight ends. His absence could mean more snaps for fullback Nikita Whitlock.
Odighizuwa was also inactive last week due to the foot issue. He has tried to practice and been unable to.
