The New York Giants trail the Cincinnati Bengals, 17-10, after an ugly, injury-plagued first half for the Giants in their preseason opener.

The Giants starters unimpressive. The offense could not move the ball and the defense could not stop the Bengals. Th Bengals scored the first two times they had the ball to take a 10-0 lead, and the Giants did not not get a first down until their fourth offensive series.

The Giants lost four players -- Landon Collins, Mykkele Thompson, Trumaine McBride and Jayron Hosley -- to injuries in the first half.

There were a few bright spots in the first half. Those included a 70-yard kickoff return by undrafted rookie running back Akeem Hunt, and eight carries for 51 yards from Orleans Darkwa.

We will see exclusively backups in the second half. Let's see if any of them step up and put themselves into consideration for playing time or roster spots.
