The New York Giants, hoping to win a sixth straight game and strengthen their playoff hopes, struggled early with the Cleveland Browns. The Giants, however, built a 14-6 halftime lead.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Giants took a 7-0 lead with 7:08 left in the half on a 13-yard pass from Eli Manning to Dwayne Harris. That culminated a quick, two-play, 31-yard drive after Devon Kennard had recovered an Isaiah Crowell fumble.

A muffed punt by Bobby Rainey then set up Cleveland’s first scoring opportunity. After Dominique Alexander recovered Rainey’s miscue at the Giants’ 30-yard line the Browns got a 20-yard Cody Parkey field goal with 1:43 left in half.

The Giants responded with a quick touchdown on a 32-yard catch-and-run by Odell Beckham Jr. to extend the lead to 14-3 with 1:13 left in the half. That completed a four-play, 69-yard drive that included a 37-yard pass to Victor Cruz. Beckham had left the game briefly with an apparent thumb injury, but returned.

The Browns added a 25-yard Parkey field goal to complete the first-half scoring.

Manning completed 12-of-18 passes for 149 yards and two first-half touchdowns.
