EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Can the New York Giants take advantage of a struggling opponent Sunday night? We find out when the 2-2 Giants face the 1-3 San Francisco 49ers.
The Giants will be short-handed on defense. Linebackers Devon Kennard (hamstring) and Jonathan Casillas (calf) won't play. Defensive ends Robert Ayers (hamstring) and George Selvie (calf) will also not play. That means linebacker Jasper Brinkley will be active for the first time as a Giant. Could it also mean we see some Cooper Taylor in passing situations?
Cunningham, who has been dealing with a knee issue, was probable. His absence from the active roster means the Giants will have only Larry Donnell and Will Tye at tight end.
Lineup changes for the Giants will have Cullen Jenkins at defensive end, Jay Bromley in Jenkins' usual defensive tackle spot and Mark Herzlich in place of Kennard.
Ahmad Brooks (personal) and Vernon Davis (knee) are the key inactives for San Francisco.
Giants inactives
WR Victor Cruz (calf), LB Devon Kennard (hamstring), DE Robert Ayers (hamstring), DE George Selvie (calf), LB Jonathan Casillas (calf), TE Jerome Cunningham, OL Bobby Hart
49ers inactives
WR DeAndrew White, RB Mike Davis, LB Gerald Hodges, LB Ahmad Brooks, OL Ian Silberman, DT Mike Purcell, TE Vernon Davis
