Tom Coughlin would love to help Odell Beckham

4

He really believes that he is at his best at the top of his passion… He is so talented. I don’t think there’s anything the kid can’t do. He is a good kid. He is a team guy in the team room. It’s just when he gets on the field, there’s only one way he knows how to play. For his own good (he needs to learn to channel his passion). And I would love to try to help him in this regard because I think so highly of him… (But) he is a distraction. If you watch a game the camera is on him the whole time.

Norman: "I really don't care" about Beckham's comments

17

"I don't know how you respond to that other than laugh," Norman told Business Insider during a Facebook Live chat Thursday. "I don't know what you get out of that. I don't know, man. There's a time when people who honor themselves will fall short, so when that day comes, we'll see." ... "I don't really care, to be honest. I really don't," Norman said. "The guy said what he said. Shots thrown, shots fired. Am I going to shoot back? For what? I don't have to. There's nothing to shoot at? ... I'm going to do what I do, play a physical style of ball and we'll see."

Louis Riddick: "Eli Apple's gonna be fine"

21

"I really like Eli Apple from Ohio State and I know some peopel think the Giants reached to take him where they took him. But look, this guy is a very good player. As a matter of fact you could say of all the crners technically and fundamentally Eli Apple's the best one for three quarters of the down.

"The last quarter of the down, as far as finishing on the football and making interceptions is something that he needs to improve ... I think Eli Apple's gonna be fine."

Josh Norman: He and Odell Beckham "know the truth"

49

When Odell and I went at one another last year, people got mad. Imagine that. People who watch this sport every Sunday and say they love it actually pretended to be offended. They don’t see the beauty in it. They don’t see the truth.

The guy lining up across from me, he knows the truth. There are a lot of people who watch this game, or who are paid to commentate on it, who might not understand the true reality. They might get offended. They might think we’re animals.

But Odell and I, we know the truth. Anybody who makes it to this level knows it. The truth is that on the football field, he’s trying to steal my bologna, and I’m trying to steal his. See you twice a year, bro.

Beason: Easy to fight for Coughlin

7

"I would say he’s come in with more energy, more enthusiasm, and a guy who’s 69 years old. He comes in, he’s doing jumping jacks in the meetings, it’s always a joy to see how much he loves to do what he does, and how much of a competitor he is. It’s easy to get up and go out and fight for a guy like that."

"I respect Tom Coughlin about as much as any coach that I’ve gone against in the league. I’ve got a great deal of admiration for him … we may be really different, but I really appreciate him."

"I figure you’ve got to throw two pretty bad balls to be part of two great catches in NFL history, so I don’t know if it’s something to be truly proud of, but I thought it was pretty spectacular."

Tom Coughlin: "Buckle your seat belts"

4

"I’m excited, I’m anxious. This is my first game on the sideline as the head coach of the New York Giants, that’s how I look at it. I don’t look at it any other way. The cumulative, yeah, there’s experience there and there’s reason to feel confident, because I’ve been there before. However, it’s the start of a new season. It’s all new. Look at the team. It’s all new. So I look at it that way. I’m excited, I’m looking forward to it. Hey, it is what it is. The season begins whether you’re ready or not, that’s what I always say. I told the players that. ‘Fellas, buckle your seat belts. Because whether you’re ready or whether you’re not ready, it’s starting Sunday night. You better be ready.’"
