The National Football Post | Notes From Lombardi: Free Agent Linebackers

I dig Lombardi's analysis, it's always interesting to to hear an actual opinion of guy who evaluated talent for a living

Vacchiano breaks down Giants' FAs

Ralph Vacchiano of the NY Daily News has an excellent breakdown of the Giants' likely plans for their own free agents. He also has an interesting tidbit on why the Giants don't want to keep Amani Toomer.

"After our shuffleboard game in the morning, we cruise out to the pool and play some chess." Carney joked. "We both have our families here so the kids are very busy. We visited Pearl Harbor earlier in the week and that was an amazing experience."

Jeff Feagles and John Carney are enjoying their Pro Bowl experience.

"I don't know what's going to happen, whether they're going to (extend) it or wait until next year," Eli said. "I'm not all that concerned. I'm just trying to get ready to play next year and try to improve my skills and get better prepared to (help the Giants) have a great season next year. "I see great things (ahead). I think we have a great core of players who want to be in New York, who work hard and are dedicated to the team. And I think that's important. When you have good guys who you like being around, who you're happy with and who play great football, then our future's in good shape."

Cowboys Reality Show, aka the best thing to happen to the Giants so far in 2009

I'm so glad nobody had posted this yet, so I would have the honor. Mosley's blog post is pretty hilarious. This is such awesome news. What a friggin mess that franchise is. FWIW, I think the show sounds like an interesting idea for, say, the Lions, who aren't competing for a playoff spot anytime soon. But the Cowboys? Really? I hope Jerry Jones lives forever.

To help relieve some of the depression/anger/sadness/whatever you're feeling over last weekends playoff loss, I suggest watching this video, perhaps on repeat. It has definitely cheered me up a bit. Anyone who says he's not the greatest defensive player of all time doesn't have a clue. I'm not sure which parts I enjoy more, the slow-mo of him chasing QB's, when you can almost see the fear in their eyes, or the plays where he takes down a running back behind the line of scrimmage on the opposite side of the field, from behind. Simply unreal.

"If we had him (Plaxico Burress) out there, would it have helped? "Probably. Do we know if it would have changed everything? No, we don't know that. But all we know is we went out there with the team we had, the team that got out to an 11-1 record ... it doesn't matter. We had enough playmakers, and we just didn't make enough plays."
