Let’s take a break from the stream of chatter regarding the futures of New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Dave Gettleman. On this edition of the ‘Valentine’s Views’ podcast we talk to Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy about the upcoming game and the 2020 NFL Draft.

Here are some of the things we discussed.

  • Nagy tells the story of Gettleman’s interest in Daniel Jones, and how rare it is for a GM to stay for the actual Senior Bowl Game.
  • Nagy says he “would expect a big jump” from Oshane Ximines in his second season. Ximines was a Senior Bowl participant last year.
  • Another Giant who played in last year’s Senior Bowl is cornerback Corey Ballentine, who played collegiately at Division II Washburn. Nagy says Ballentine has a “really high ceiling. He’s just learning how to play.”
  • Nagy understands the reticence of Giants’ fans upset by the idea of losing out on pass rusher Chase Young in the draft. He calls Young a “once in a decade player.” Pass rushers to watch in the Senior Bowl, per Nagy, include Terrell Lewis of Alabama, Alton Robinson of Syracuse, Darrell Taylor of Tennessee and Bradlee Inae of Utah.
