The New York Giants and Detroit Lions will square off on Tuesday for Round 2 of their joint practices at Quest Diagnostics Training Center.
Monday’s high-intensity practice was filled with skirmishes, including ones involving quarterback Daniel Jones and GM Joe Schoen.
Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke said the chippiness of practice was “the nature of the beast” for a joint practice.
Safety Dane Belton echoed that sentiment.
“There’s never gonna be a situation like this where there’s not a fight but, we’re focusing on the main thing,” Belton said. “At the end of the day, you gotta make plays and you gotta win. We gotta keep our composure and make plays.”

Lions coach Dan Campbell said QB Jared Goff and many of the players the Lions are going to “count on” won’t play in the preseason opener on Thursday. Daboll wouldn’t reveal his plans but hard to imagine any established starters playing after two physical joint practices.

Not surprisingly, Daboll and Dan Campbell were fine with the “spirited” nature of yesterday’s practice. They spoke after and said they just want to see some of the “extra” stuff get cleaned up so practice doesn’t get interrupted as much as yesterday.
