Win-loss record ceilings, floors for all NFL teams in 2024 | ESPN

New York Giants: Ceiling: 9-8 | Floor: 4-13

Biggest X factor: Brian Daboll running the offense. It's officially Daboll's offense now. He's running the meetings, calling the plays and spending more time with the quarterbacks -- including starter Daniel Jones. Daboll made it a priority to throw the ball down the field all summer in hopes of adding more explosiveness to the offense. They have to be better in that regard. They can't be the same group that averaged fewer than 12 points per game over the first 10 weeks of last season with Malik Nabers, Jalin Hyatt, Darius Slayton and Wan'Dale Robinson, all dynamic receivers.

Yep, we are officially in the dog days of camp

Daniel Jones: NY Giants QB ready for first game since ACL injury | The Record

With a renewed confidence and that noticeable “dawg” quotient in his play and demeanor, Jones is back to lead this team. How long will this last? The margin is likely razor thin on all fronts, and whether Jones can get back to what stands as the ceiling of his six-year career to date - the playoff victory over the 13-win Vikings in Minnesota two seasons ago - remains to be seen. The Giants are certainly counting on a better version of Jones entering this year, and in reality, the hope is that comes in conjunction with an improved offensive line and a group of young playmakers that added electric rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers as the No. 6 overall pick in the draft.

Rakeem Nunez-Roches Can’t Wait to “Eat” in this Giants Defense | SI.com

Nunez-Roches seems well on his way to earning a starting spot on the Giants defensive line alongside Dexter Lawrence II where he said he hopes to “eat” as more than just a run-stopper.

“To be honest with you, I have been a pass rusher,” Nunez-Roces said. “I might not have the stats, but when you turn on the film, I end up in the pocket of the quarterback–I help collapse the pocket.”

Making the list for the Giants were DT Dexter Lawrence and edge rusher Brian Burns.

Giants won’t limit Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns with snap counts in games | New York Post

“The biggest thing is no drop-off,” new outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen said. “If Burns or K.T. is tired, we have to get the next guy in. We have to have waves of fresh players. If you look at any of the great fronts over the years who have had consistent production, there is no drop-off. My push to all the non-starters is that the standard is the standard, and whoever is in there has to uphold it.”

Bullen’s approach suggests the Giants will value keeping both Azeez Ojulari and Boogie Basham — two former second-round picks both on contract years — when it comes to cut day.

Something Special: Matthew Adams Looks to Anchor Giants’ Special Teams | SI.com

Adams has rotated in as both an off-ball linebacker and edge rusher, depending on the situation, his likely role being a rotational piece on defense.

“I’ve been putting time on task, learning the scheme and trying to see the defense out of my coaches’ eyes and how they want it run,” he said. “You’ve just gotta hone in on your keys and eye discipline with teams that like the motions, trick formations, trick shifts and all that stuff. It’s all eye candy at the end of the day.”

One takeaway from every NFL team’s initial 2024 depth chart | PFF

Dane Belton over Tyler Nubin. The 23-year-old Belton played only 295 snaps last year and ended the season with a 51.7 PFF overall grade, with no individual grade above 61.1. The third-year player looked solid during New York’s preseason opener, notching a higher overall grade than Nubin, who missed his only tackle attempt. It also doesn’t help Nubin that he’s been nursing a calf injury, missing practice and key reps in his development. In turn, that’s left Belton as a starter.

2024 NFL Preseason, Week 2: One thing to watch for on each of the 32 teams | NFL.com

The Giants had some success running the ball last week against the Lions, which was a positive development in a post-Saquon Barkley existence. If Jones can show out, and the run game can continue its momentum, it’ll be a lot easier to feel good about New York’s offense.

Ranking the 13 Alternate NFL Helmets Debuting in 2024 From Worst to Best | SI.com

Sports Illustrated ranked the alternate helmets set to debut during the upcoming season and the Giants checked in at the very bottom.

The Giants are celebrating their 100th season in franchise history with a new “Century Red” uniform, which features the winged red and blue helmet they wore from 1937-1947 — a span which included the team’s first NFL championship in 1938.

This helmet is unfortunately the best part of what is a disastrous classic set. It looks better in grainy black-and-white footage from that 1938 championship.

Who are the NFL’s top players 25 and under? | The Athletic

8. C.J. Stroud, QB, Houston Texans. Age: 22. The reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, Stroud took the league by storm in 2023. He not only rewrote the rookie record books, he also ranked among the league leaders in passing yards, passer rating and completion percentage while directing a surprising playoff run.

Report: Texans were in the mix for pass rusher Matthew Judon before Falcons trade | MSN.com

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Texans and Chicago Bears were in the mix for the 32-year-old edge defender's services once he became available. Pass rush isn't a problem for Houston after landing four-time Pro Bowler Danielle Hunter. He'll pair opposite Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr. for the next two seasons and Jonathan Greenard's replacement.
