New York Giants OTA No. 5 Report: O-Line, An Emerging Sleeper, and More | SI.com

Offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo stressed the importance of versatility when it comes to offensive linemen, including Neal, who, while he will work at right tackle to start this summer, he’ll also get snaps at other positions.

“I definitely give players a multitude of looks,” Bricillo said. “Yes, he’s gonna be at the right tackle, and we’re gonna go ahead and work with that. But I mean, for players in general, I want versatility. I mean, that’s the nature of the position. You only have eight active on game day. You need to be able to play multiple positions. Versatility is important. We’re gonna concentrate on right tackle, and we’ll go from there.”

Giants putting the work in

Touchdowns & Takeaways: Giants reach midway point of OTAs | Giants.com

Cornerback Deonte Banks prevented a possible touchdown by breaking up a long pass attempt at the front-left corner of the end zone. Fellow cornerback Nick McCloud and safety Dane Belton also forced incompletions.

Outside linebackers Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari found their way into the backfield for what would have been sacks on separate plays. Inside linebacker Carter Coughlin also sped up a pass for an incompletion as Banks provided coverage on the back end. Outside linebacker Boogie Basham batted down a pass at the line of scrimmage.

Giants OTAs Notes: Drew Lock's role, Andrew Thomas in mid-season form, Darius Slayton returns | SNY.tv

It was a quiet-ish day for rookie wideout Malik Nabers. He caught that long touchdown in the first media-open practice. He had two receptions on Thursday, but none for longer than 10 yards. Nabers’ best play actually came when Lock looked at the other side of the field. He put this move on Cor’Dale Flott that left him in the dust. Nabers legitimately had yards of separation off the line. It could have (should have) been a huge play if Lock turned his head. Instead, he threw a deep incompletion down the left side. The media had a poor vantage point for this portion of practice, so it’s hard to tell you who he threw at.

Fast forward to this season and a second-year jump is expected from John Michael Schmitz. New offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo has two individual projects that stand out: straightening out Evan Neal and getting the most out of Schmitz. Veterans Jon Runyan and Jermaine Eluemunor are working at the guards next to Schmitz; their presence should provide him with a much more stable foundation to anchor on the interior.

Darius Slayton says Giants QB Daniel Jones needs to win to earn respect | New York Daily News

Darius Slayton is Daniel Jones' biggest advocate, and he said the Giants quarterback's path back to earning league-wide respect is simple.

Can Giants actually count on Drew Lock to win games if he winds up replacing Daniel Jones? | NJ.com

The Giants had to depend a lot on backup quarterbacks last season. And they wound up going 2-3 in Tyrod Taylor’s starts and 3-3 in Tommy DeVito’s starts, compared to 1-5 in Daniel Jones’ starts.

One reason each NFC team won’t make the playoffs in 2024 | PFF

Getting Daniel Jones back to the level of play he showed from 2020 to 2022 is the minimum needed to get them back to the playoffs. Even that is unlikely to be enough to take them deep into the postseason, though, with Jones producing a big-time throw on just 3.0% of his pass attempts in his career so far.

2. Dexter Lawrence. What separates Lawrence from other defensive tackles is his elite pass-rushing production, primarily from a nose tackle alignment. Others may be nose tackles in name only, but Lawrence has 81 total pressures over the past two seasons when lined up as a nose tackle. No other player has more than 16.
