Giants stun reeling Eagles, end five-game losing streak to Phill7y

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The New York Giants stunned the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-10, on Sunday. The Giants finished the season 6-11. The Eagles, once 10-1, finished the season five losses in six games. At 11-6, they placed second in the NFC East behind the Dallas Cowboys.

The victory by the Giants snapped a five-game losing streak against the Eagles.

The ‘Let’s Go Giants’ chants from the handful of Giants’ fans in attendance in a largely empty MetLife Stadium began late in the second quarter, with the Giants leading, 24-0. That is about the time Eagles coach Nick Sirianni pulled star quarterback Jalen Hurts in favor of Marcus Mariota.

The Giants took control of the game with touchdowns on three straight second-quarter possessions.


  • Wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson had a huge game, with 5 catches for 85 yards. He had a 33-yard catch to set up a Mason Crosby field goal and a 25-yard catch to set up a Saquon Barkley 2-yard touchdown run.
  • Tyrod Taylor went 23 of 32 for 297 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
  • Xavier McKinney had two interceptions and three passes defensed.
  • Darius Slayton had five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. He finished the season with a career-high 770 receiving yards.
  • The Giants had five sacks of Hurts and Mariota. Azeez Ojulari had two, and Bobby Okereke, Dane Belton and Jihad Ward were credited with sacks.
  • The Giants forced four Philadelphia turnovers, McKinney’s two interceptions and fumble recoveries by Micah McFadden and Ojulari.
  • Sterling Shepard caught two passes to tie Jeremy Shockey for fifth on the franchise’s all-time receptions list with 371.
  • Barkley had 18 carries for 46 yards and two touchdowns. He had two receptions for 51 yards, including a 46-yarder.

  • Taylor suffered a thumb injury early in the game, but returned.
  • Wide receiver Jalin Hyatt was ruled out with a first-half hamstring injury.
  • Tight end Darren Waller suffered a burner, but returned to the game.
  • Cornerback Nick McCloud, subbing for the injured Deonte Banks, suffered a back injury.
