C John Michael Schmitz, S Jason Pinnock not practicing for Giants

Offensive line could be shuffled again, of course

In a season filled with offensive line shuffling, the New York Giants might be ending the season with yet another makeshift line on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Matt Peart will start at right tackle Sunday for the Giants in place of Tyre Phillips, who suffered a torn right quad tendon last Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. Phillips, of course, was replacing Evan Neal, who is out for the season with an ankle injury.

On Wednesday, the Giants got perhaps even more bad offensive line news. Starting enter John Michael Schmitz (shin) was one of two players held out of practice. The other was starting safety Jason Pinnock (toe).

If Schmitz can’t play Sunday against the Eagles, Ben Bredeson would likely move from right guard to center with either Mark Glowinski or Marcus McKethan starting at right guard.

Dane Belton would likely step in for Pinnock. Belton had two interceptions and a fumble recovery last week against Los Angeles in his best game as a pro.

Rookie cornerback Deonte Banks, who missed last week’s game with a shoulder injury, was a limited participant. Head coach Brian Daboll indicated Banks could be a game-time decision on Sunday.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor was limited with a back injury. Daboll said Taylor would be the starter on Sunday.
