Knowing that his New York Giants career, and probably his NFL career, is over, Sterling Shepard took to Instagram Tuesday evening to thank Giants fans.

Shepard wrote:

“Forever grateful to the New York Giants organization, past and present teammates, and the incredible fan base for their unwavering love and support over the past 8 years. New Jersey, my second home, will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for embracing me with open arms and making me feel like family. Once a Giant, always a Giant!”

Shepard got three receptions on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, moving him ahead of Jeremy Shockey and into fifth place on the franchise’s all-time receptions list.

Shepard was the last player introduced on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. In the victorious post-game locker room, coach Brian Daboll had Shepard break down the team. He and his teammates both enjoyed his final game.

Here is a post-game quote about Shepard from Wan’Dale Robinson:

“I can’t say enough good things about him. Ever since I came in as a rookie that’s been my mentor, who I go to to ask about anything. He’s been through just about all of it. Did our ACL rehabs together and things like that. I can’t say enough good things about him. He’s a great teammate, great person.”

Best of luck to Shep in whatever comes next.
