Giants run defense has not been good. Is the problem that they only play with 2 down linemen for most of the game? By my count, they played 43 defensive snaps with 2 down linemen and only 21 snaps with 3. I don't consider Jihad Ward a lineman and did not count his snaps. He certainly never puts his hand in the ground so calling him a down lineman wouldn't be right. Can you defend the run well with only 2 down linemen? Is it that Martindale is willing to give up a bunch of rushing yards to have more players on the field to defend the deep pass?
