NFL Week 17 picks: Can Giants, Tyrod Taylor upset Rams?

Big Blue View staff doesn’t see an upset coming

It seems like we just finished with Week 16 of the NFL season, because. We are, though, on to Week 17. Here are your Big Blue View staff predictions. Does anyone on staff think the New York Giants will upset the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday?

Let’s see.

Rivka Boord

The Rams have surprised the NFL in their playoff push. The Giants gave the Eagles a run for their money but ultimately came up short. I just don’t think the Giants can cover the Rams’ receivers, and Matthew Stafford has thrown 14 touchdowns vs. just 1 interception over his last five games. I think the Rams will pull this one out.

Pick: Rams
Season: 136-87 (60.9%)

Can the Giants pull off the upset? It is possible, but I am not picking it that way. The Rams should be motivated to take care of business against this team.

Pick: Rams
Season: 147-91 (61.8%)

This is a game the Giants absolutely can win. However, the Rams have far exceeded expectations with rookies Puka Nacua, Kyren Williams, and Byron Young. I fully expect Wink Martindale to try and pressure Matt Stafford and force mistakes. However, I could see Sean McVay use Cooper Kupp, Nacua, and Williams to exploit the Giants’ aggressiveness.

Likewise, Aaron Donald isn’t quite what he used to be, but he’s still the best pass rushing defensive tackle in the NFL. Young could also be a handful for Tyre Phillips off the edge. They could disrupt the Giants’ whole offense if New York isn’t careful.

Pick: Rams
Season: 106-73 (59.2%)

The Rams have won 5 of their last 6 and have a path to the playoffs. Matthew Stafford has had a great season behind an improved OL, and with Cooper Kupp, outstanding rookie Puka Nacua, and Tutu Atwell they stress an opponent’s defense. Meanwhile the Rams get great pressure from their defensive interior. The Giants’ injured list may be longer than their active list for this game they way things are going. Tyrod Taylor will be sprinting out of the pocket a lot, and the Rams’ DBs are suspect so he may be able to do damage, but I see LA winning a fairly high scoring game.

Pick: Rams
Season: 147-91 (61.7%)

I would love to pick the Giants to win this game, but I can’t. The Rams have a playoff berth on the line, have won five of six and should escape MetLife Stadium with a victory.

Pick: Rams
Season: 155-85 (64.6%)
