The New York Giants will have a massive hole in their defensive line on Sunday as Dexter Lawrence (hamstring) will be inactive. This will be the first game in Lawrence’s five-year career that he misses due to injury. Lawrence missed a game in 2020 due to COVID.
A second-team All-Pro in 2022, Lawrence has 4.0 sacks and a team-leading 17 quarterback hits. Per Pro Football Focus, Lawrence (92.8) is the NFL’s highest-graded interior defensive lineman this season.
With Lawrence out, rookie Jordon Riley, a seventh-round pick, will be active. Riley has played in only two games.
Darius Slayton, who suffered a neck injury against the Washington Commanders that affected his right arm, will play. Slayton had been listed as doubtful after practicing on a limited basis Thursday and Friday. This is the first time since Week 8 of 2020 a player listed as doubtful has been active on game day. Slayton is third on the team with 30 receptions, and leads the Giants in receiving yards with 419.
Right tackle Evan Neal (ankle) will miss a third straight game, with Tyre Phillips starting at right tackle.
