Three New York Giants were held out of practice on Wednesday — defensive lineman Leonard Williams (neck), edge defender Azeez Ojulari (ankle) and center Jon Feliciano (back).
With the Giants locked into the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs whether they win or lose on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles in the regular-season finale, it is a good guess that those three players are likely to be held out in Week 18.
Williams, a key defensive player, has been dealing with a neck injury for several weeks and left the Week 17 game against the Indianapolis Colts with a burner. Ojulari, second on the team with 5.5 sacks, played only seven snaps against the Colts after being injured Week 16 against the Minnesota Vikings. Feliciano is the Giants’ starting center.
Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, getting his weekly Wednesday rest day, also did not practice.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll was non-committal on Monday regarding how he would approach playing time against the Eagles.
“What we’ve got to make decisions on is do what’s best for our team – not any other team,” Daboll said. “We’ll do whatever we think is best for our guys and our team.”
