Giants-Eagles opening odds: Philadelphia is a heavy favorite once again

Is the third time the charm for New York?

The New York Giants have their first playoff win in over a decade, but they’ll face a different test entirely against the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles next week.

The Eagles opened as -325 moneyline favorites with an 7.5-point spread at DraftKings Sportsbook. The over/under is 45.5 points.

The Giants, of course, have not fared well against the Eagles this season. Philadelphia beat New York 48-22 in Week 14 and 22-16 in Week 18, though the Giants were resting their starters the second time around.

But New York seems to have kicked things into another gear since that deflating Week 14 loss. Sunday’s 31-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings was arguably the Giants’ best offensive performance of the season and one of the best games of Daniel Jones’ career. The defense also held Justin Jefferson to 47 yards.

With almost the entire roster healthy, this could be the Giants’ best chance yet to dethrone the Eagles, who were on a bye this week.

“I think we’ve got a lot of work to do, but it’s enjoyable work,” head coach Brian Daboll said about preparing for the Eagles.

The X factor will be Jalen Hurts’ health. Hurts will be five weeks removed from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for two games and limited him against the Giants in Week 18. When asked on Thursday if he will be 100 percent for the playoffs, Hurts said only that “I’ve played injured before,” according to beat writer Jeff McLane. He was also limited in practice this week.

The Eagles have already lost to the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders. Can the Giants be the final team in the NFC East to best them?

“It’s a divisional opponent that we are used to and have seen a couple of times,” said wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins. “We have got to go out there, stay humble, and get ready to get another win.”
