The New York Giants announced on Tuesday that they’ve resigned defensive tackle Vernon Butler to their practice squad.

The Giants had previously signed Butler to their practice squad back on Nov. 15 (2022) and elevated him to their active roster on Dec. 3 for their Week 13 game against the Washington Commanders.

Vernon was released from the practice squad by the Giants just four days ago on Nov. 6 to make room to sign DT Jack Heflin.

Butler was originally drafted by the Carolina Panthers with the 30th overall pick out of Louisiana Tech in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The Panthers ultimately declined Butlers’ fifth-year option and he became a free agent. Butler was familiar to both Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll before he was signed by the Giants. The was signed to a two-year deal by the Buffalo Bills in 2020.

The Giants released Heflin from their practice squad on Tuesday in a corresponding roster move.
