Giants-Colts injury report: Xavier McKinney ‘probably not’ going to play on Sunday

It looks like McKinney will stay on IR for another week; Adoree’ Jackson will be a game-time decision

Xavier McKinney is back to practice with the New York Giants, but head coach Brian Daboll said McKinney will “probably not” be activated from injured reserve for this Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

McKinney has missed seven games since injuring several fingers on his left hand and requiring surgery following a bye week mishap in Cabo.

Daboll indicated that edge defender Azeez Ojulari, who sustained an ankle injury last Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings, is “good to go,” per Daboll. cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, out since Week 11 with a sprained MCL, will be a game-time decision. Ojulari is listed as questionable, and Jackson as doubtful.

McKinney practiced for the first time Thursday while wearing a splint or wrap of some kind to protect his hand.

“I want to get back big time,” McKinney said on Thursday. “The coaches know that, and the trainers know that. They know that I really want to get back and I’m kind of running out of patience here.”

It sounds like he will likely have to find enough patience to wait one more week.

Jackson did not sound certain on Thursday when asked about his availability for Sunday.

“I think that the thing with that is just getting those live reps and not rushing into something, but at the same time, doing the right increments to get yourself ready and prepared,” Jackson said. “Whenever I get out there – I’m sprinkled in now – be able to sustain it. I can do it once, twice. But can you do it out there (for) 70 plays in that aspect? Just make sure it’s strong, healthy, stable to be able to keep doing it play after play.”

Ojulari had indicated on Wednesday that he thought he would be ready to play.

“I think I’ll be straight,” he said.
