Adoree’ Jackson, out since Week 11 with a sprained MCL, returned to practice on Wednesday for the New York Giants. Head coach Brian Daboll said before practice that Jackson would be “doing some stuff.” He was officially listed as a limited practice participant.
Jackson, the Giants’ best cornerback, has been out of the lineup since being injured while returning a punt against the Detroit Lions.
Daboll did not, of course, guarantee that Jackson would play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Wednesday, though, is the first time Jackson has practiced since being injured.
Shane Lemieux to IR
The season is over for Giants’ guard Shane Lemieux. He suffered a toe injury that required surgery in the first preseason game, returned from IR Week 11 vs. the Lions, played the first half and has not played since.
This is two consecutive seasons in which Lemieux, a 2020 fifth-round pick, has been injured and managed to appear in just one game.
The Giants signed former Detroit Lions first-round pick Jarrad Davis, a linebacker, from the Lions’ practice squad to replace Lemieux. Davis, 28, has been on the Detroit practice squad all season and was elevated for three games, playing only 36 defensive snaps. [Full story on the Davis signing]
More injury updates
Daboll said that Xavier McKinney (hand) would not practice on Wednesday. He offered no timetable for McKinney’s return, saying only that he is “getting there.”
Azeez Ojulari (ankle) and Leonard Williams (neck) will be limited practice participants. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence will get a veteran rest day.
After practice on Wednesday, Ojulari seemed optimistic about his chances to play against Indianapolis.
“I think I’ll be straight.,” Ojulari said. “I mean, I’m trying to that’s the goal you know? Being ready to play. So, I’m trying to go see however it takes, day by day how I’m feeling. How I feel, that’s the main thing and we get it going.”
When he hurt his ankle Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings Ojulari did not feel the injury was severe.
“I knew it was something I could come back from,” he said.

Xavier McKinney working with training staff during media viewing. Doing sprints, then did some drills catching tennis balls.

Making significant progress: McKinney was able to catch the ball repeatedly with his left hand. Couldn't catch a ping pong ball two weeks ago. #Giants
