Giants’ coach Brian Daboll goes for the goatee, and now we’re stuck with it

There was something different about New York Giants coach Brian Daboll on Sunday night. If you couldn’t quite put your finger on it it was that Daboll shaved off his bushy beard for the game against the Washington Commanders, leaving just a wispy goatee in its place.

With the Giants having gone 1-4-1 in six games prior to Sunday’s critical game against Washington, Daboll decided a change was in order. So, saying he would “do anything for a win,” the beard came off.

“That includes looking like this, which, trust me my wife and daughters are not very happy about that,” Daboll said. “Tried to do anything for a win. It was almost a mustache. I gained about I don’t know how many pounds the last couple weeks. I kept a little bit of a goatee on there, cover up some of the other parts.”

Now that the Giants earned a win, Daboll said the beard-less look “absolutely” has to stay.

“Unfortunately for everybody else, but yeah, not really sure that really makes a difference,” Daboll said. “But, change it up. There’s a lot of there’s a lot of skin underneath that beard. So be it.”
