The New York Giants are coming off one of their biggest wins in years, but they face a tough three-game slate to close out the regular season. They’ll be 3.5-point underdogs on the road against the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday.
The Vikings opened as -180 moneyline favorites and the over/under is set at 47.5 points, per DraftKings Sportsbook.
Both teams are coming off of wild victories as part of a Week 15 that was arguably the most exciting week of football this year. Minnesota, of course, just completed the largest comeback in NFL history. Down 33-0 midway through the third quarter against the Indianapolis Colts, the Vikings came all the way back and won on a 40-yard field goal with :03 remaining in overtime.
The win clinched an NFC North title for Minnesota. They currently hold the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, two games behind the Philadelphia Eagles and one game ahead of the San Francisco 49ers.
The question now is which version of the Vikings will show up against New York. The team that trailed 33-0, or the team that came back to win that game? The team that lost 40-3 to the Dallas Cowboys, or the team that beat the Buffalo Bills in overtime?
Both teams are also built for close games. The Vikings are just the third team ever to win 10 games in a season by eight points are fewer. The Giants have not won a game by more than eight points this season.
The Giants can clinch a playoff spot this week if they win and two out of three of the Washington Commanders, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions lose. But even if New York doesn’t get the help it needs, simply beating the Vikings will give the Giants a 99 percent chance of making the playoffs, according to FiveThirtyEight.
