The New York Giants announced Thursday evening that they have reached the 16-man practice squad limit.
A pair of veteran players who had previously been released by the Giants — linebacker Trent Harris and wide receiver Dante Pettis — were added to the practice. Quarterback Brian Lewerke, who was with the team during the latter stages of training camp and the preseason, has also been added.
The final spot went to former Green Bay Packers running back Deter Williams. The 5-foot-11, 212-pound Williams was a sixth round selection by Green Bay in 2019. Over two season, he has played in seven games with seven carries for 19 yards.
Pettis played in two games for the Giants last season with four catches for 76 yards and one touchdown. Harris played in four games last season.
The Giants terminated the practice squad contracts of tight end Nakia Griffin-Stewart and rookie offensive linemen Brett Heggie and Jake Burton.
The Giants, per the NFL’s transactions report, waived three players off injured reserve with injury settlements. Those were wide receiver Alex Bachman, tight end Cole Hikutini and defensive back Montre Hartage.
