Ex-Giants placekicker Ryan Santoso cut by Carolina Panthers

That means Giants won’t get seventh-round pick from Carolina

The Carolina Panthers have cut placekicker Ryan Santoso, meaning the New York Giants will not get the conditional seventh-round draft pick the Panthers sent to the Giants in a trade for Santoso a few weeks ago.

Santoso made a pair of short field goals for the Panthers in their season-opening game against the New York Jets, but missed one of his two extra-point attempts.

Santoso spent all last season on the Giants’ practice squad. With Graham Gano in the fold, the Giants had hoped to get something in return rather than cut Santoso outright. Now, that won’t happen as Santoso needed to be with Carolina for two games for the pick to be sent to New York.

Even without the pick they would have gotten for Santoso, the Giants currently have 10 picks in the 2022 draft. Estimated draft power rankings from Tankathon have the Giants with the most draft pick value heading into next April’s draft. As of now, the giants have five picks in the top 100.
