Giants updated depth chart: Impact of roster shuffling

Let’s catch up on what the roster actually looks like

NFL: NY Giants Training Camp Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

With all of the roster moves the New York Giants have made since training camp began, let’s take some time to check out what the 90-man roster and the unofficial depth chart actually look like right now.

2021 Giants offensive depth chart

Position First Team Second Team Third Team
Position First Team Second Team Third Team
WR Kenny Golladay, Darius Slayton C.J. Board
TE Evan Engram Kaden Smith
RT Nate Solder Matt Peart
RG Will Hernandez Ben Bredeson
C Nick Gates Billy Price
LG Shane Lemieux Ben Bredeson
LT Andrew Thomas Matt Peart
RB Saquon Barkley Devontae Booker Gary Brightwell
FB Elijhaa Penny Cullen Gillaspia
WR Sterling Shepard Kadarius Toney Collin Johnson
TE Kyle Rudolph Kaden Smith
QB Daniel Jones Mike Glennon

The Levine Toilolo injury, Kyle Rudolph still being on PUP and Rysen John being on the Reserve/COVID-19 list mean there really isn’t currently as much depth at tight end as you might think.

SLB Lorenzo Carter Quincy Roche Cam Brown
DE Dexter Lawrence
MLB Blake Martinez Reggie Ragland Justin Hilliard
NT Austin Johnson Danny Shelton
WIL Tae Crowder Carter Coughlin
DT Leonard Williams Raymond Johnson III
OLB Oshane Ximines Azeez Ojulari
LCB James Bradberry Rodarius Williams Josh Jackson, Sam Beal
SS Jabrill Peppers Julian Love
FS Logan Ryan Xavier McKinney
RCB Adoree' Jackson Darnay Holmes Keion Crossen

The linebacker situation is interesting here. You will notice that neither Ryan Anderson nor Reggie Ragland, veteran linebackers signed for depth in the offseason, are list. Both are on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list. They don’t count against the 90-man roster. Each day they stay on NFI decreases the chance they make the 53-man roster at the end of the preseason.

Aaron Robinson and Oshane Ximines also have yet to practice.

Position First Team Second Team Third Team Other

Punter Riley Dixon
Placekicker Graham Gano
Long Snapper Casey Kreiter
Punt returner Jabrill Peppers Adoree' Jackson Kadarius Toney
Kickoff returner C.J. Board Jabrill Peppers Kadarius Toney
Holder Riley Dixon

In the end, I think Kadarius Toney and Jabrill Peppers split punt return duties. I am not sure how kickoff return will shake out, but the Giants are intrigued by the speed of John Ross.
