Future needs

What up BBV. I got a fun little exercise for us today. That is, what do we think the Giants will look to target in the next draft. Now, this may be an exercise in futility because its August and we haven't played football yet. But, we also know that this team isn't where the FO and coaches have it vision wise.

Let's get one quick thing out the way, I'm going to name these targets based on the assumption that most of our key players lived up to our hopes and expectations, so let's assume that DJ, Thomas, and Golladay all paid off for us. To an extent, the OL also did it's thing, although it still may need a bit more love. On defense, we likely have a player in Ojulari, but until I see something from EDGE, we have to think about it, and DT may need some reinforcements as well.

So here are the positions I could see being targeted, in no particular order.

1) Guard: now while I think we'll be ok, the line could use more depth and talent, so depending on the performance of Hernandez and Lemiuex, and if we retain Hernandez could make this a priority, or a good idea to get a guy in for depth.

Top targets on current board are Keyon Greene from Texas A&M, Ikem Ekonwu from NC State, and Tyler Linderbaum from Iowa.

2) Tight End: I can see the eyes roll now, and while I don't know if I put much value here, I do know that the Giants wanted a TE like Hunter Henry, as they targeted him big time. So I can see this being a spot they look for someone to fill that role for them.

Some top options are Jahleel Billingsly from Alabama, Jalen Wydermyer from Texas A&M, and Jeremy Ruckert from OSU.

3) Defensive Tackle: We have two guys signed beyond this year we have full faith in in Leo and Dex. While easy to replace them, there are some guys here I'm fond of, one in particular is my current favorite prospect.

Top guys are DeMarvin Leal from Texas A&M, who stands as my favorite prospect in this draft, and perhaps the most talented DT to come out since Aaron Donald, Jordan Davis from Georgia, and Perrion Winfrey from Oklahoma.

4) EDGE: we invested a bit with Ojulari and Ellerson Smith, but in all reality, the only EDGE I trust long term is Ojulari. Maybe Smith shows me something, but let him show it, and when it comes to Zo and Xman, they are in the same boat, but with less hope at this point.

Top guys are Kayvon Thibodeux from Oregon, although I don't expect to have a shot at him, Drake Jackson from USC andMyjai Sanders from Cincinnati.

Those are some top names at a few positions that we may look at targeting next year. Things can obviously change based on the season and FA, but given what is out there and what we have, I think those spots merit some thought.
