The New York Giants open their preseason on Saturday evening by hosting the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET, NBC-4 NY TV).

Quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley will be among a long list of Giants who won’t play. That list is likely to include Kenny Golladay (hamstring) and several other veterans or players working back from injuries or from COVID-19.

Judge said during the week that he would treat Saturday night like what had traditionally been the fourth preseason game, during which starters generally did not play.

“It’s more of a make sure all of the players that we really have to evaluate get an evaluation. Because of the rules this year, we have to cut five guys after the Jets game,” Judge said. “I want to make sure that we don’t make any decisions that impact our or their future without a proper evaluation.”
