The New York Giants announced Wednesday that they have signed defensive tackle Elijah Qualls.
He was waived before the 2018 season and bounced around the league for brief stints with the Panthers, Ravens, Buccaneers, and the XFL’s DC Defenders. Now 26 years old, Qualls has not appeared in an NFL game since being with the Eagles.
The Giants also released defensive lineman RJ McIntosh and wide receiver Derrick Dillon.
McIntosh was selected in the fifth round in 2018, GM Dave Gettleman’s first draft with the Giants. He appeared in 12 games and played 10 percent of the team’s defensive snaps in 2019, recording two sacks. He was inactive for all of 2020.
Dillon was on New York’s practice squad last year as an undrafted free agent after posting a 4.29 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine. He was placed on injured reserve last week and was waived today.
The Giants also announced they have waived linebacker Cale Garrett and signed defensive tackle Willie Henry. Henry has played 18 games over three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers.
