New York Giants offensive guard Shane Lemieux was just carted off the practice field.

The Giants on Thursday afternoon said only that Lemieux suffered a knee injury. No details on which knee, or the severity.

Lemieux seized the left guard spot last year as a rookie after veteran Will Hernandez was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. It appears as though Lemieux would hang on to the left guard spot going into 2021 — a position he manned for 52 consecutive games at the University of Oregon — and Hernandez would transition to the right side.

Lemieux was credited as a factor in the resurgence of the Giants’ running game in the second half of the 2020 season, and a significant injury will only pile more questions onto a young and inexperienced unit.

The Giants are also getting a somewhat unwanted look at their offensive line depth with both RT Matt Peart (back) and iOL Jonotthan Harrison (hamstring) starting camp on the PUP list.

Stay with Big Blue View as we get more details on the nature of the injury, the severity, and where the Giants go from here.
