Leading up to training camp, which is barely more than two weeks away, let’s try to rank the 90 players on the New York Giants roster as the season begins.
These will be presented in batches of 10, beginning with the bottom of the roster. Technically, the Giants have room for a 91st player (Nate Ebner?) as they once again have an International Player Pathway Program exemption for Austrian running back Sandro Platzgummer.
One thing to note: As we get toward the top players on the roster I am going to lean toward importance to the 2021 Giants rather than talent in making many of my choices.
Here are, in my view, the bottom 10 players entering camp.
90. RB Sandro Platzgummer
89. RB Taquan Mizzell
88. LB Cale Garrett
87. TE Nakia Griffin-Stewart
86. DT David Moa
85. DB Quincy Wilson
84. DE Raymond Johnson III
83. G Kenny Wiggins
82. OL Jake Burton
81. OL Brett Heggie
Burton and Heggie, the two undrafted free agent offensive linemen, are the two players in this group who I think have the best chance to prove me wrong. One or both could earn spots on the practice squad with impressive preseason performance.
