Is there any reason for the New York Giants to move on from long-snapper Casey Kreiter in 2021? Let’s look at that as we continue profiling the 90 players the Giants will bring to training camp this summer.
The basics
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 250
Age: 31 when regular season starts
Position: Long-snapper
Experience: 5
Contract: One-year, $1.1275 million | Guaranteed: $337,500 | 2021 cap hit: $987,500
Career to date
Kreiter spent his first four seasons with the Denver Broncos, making the Pro Bowl in 2018. In need of a Zak DeOssie successor, the Giants snapped him up a year ago when the Broncos let him go.
Kreiter did his job for the Giants in 2021 without being noticed, which is probably the best thing you can say about a long snapper. Noticing a snapper means he has probably done something wrong.
2021 outlook
The Giants do have Carson Tinker, who spent last season on the practice squad as a “just in case” long snapper. Kreiter’s 2020 season did not give the Giants any reason to move on, so I would expect him to be the long-snapper again.
