It was entirely too predictable that after the New York Giants signed top-tier wide receiver Kenny Golladay in free agency mock drafts would begin to move away from the idea the Giants would use the No. 11 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on a receiver.
This week’s mock draft tracker shows that process has begun.
There are 73 mock drafts in this week’s edition of the tracker. Jaylen Waddle, the speedy wide receiver from Alabama, still lead with 11 selections (15.1 percent). Still, much of that is owed to pre-Golladay signing mock drafts.
Three players were selected in seven mock drafts (9.6 percent). Those were Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith, Miami edge rusher Gregory Rousseau and Michigan edge rusher Kwity Paye.

Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons, Florida tight end Kyle Pitts and USC offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker were all chosen six times (8.2 percent).
Vera-Tucker’s presence is interesting as it is the first time we have seen him among the leaders in our tracker. Northwestern offensive tackle Rashawn Slater was the choice in five mocks (6.8 percent).
Georgia edge rusher Azeez Ojulari [Prospect Profile] was the selection in four mock drafts (5.5 percent).
So, it is pretty clear that the movement away from receiver has begun. It is, however, also clear that there is no clear consensus on the ultimate direction in which the Giants should go.
