Are the Philadelphia Eagles trying to move ahead of the New York Giants in the 2021 NFL Draft with the intent of snatching away Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Waddle?

A report from The Athletic says the Eagles, who have the 12th pick and an extra 2022 first-round pick after a move down from No. 6 in a deal with the Miami Dolphins, are trying to find a way back into the top 10. Speculation is that the Eagles’ target in a move up would be Waddle, the speedy, home-run hitting wide receiver/return man who would give Philly the type of big-play weapon DeSean Jackson was in his prime.

The Giants have a wide range of options with the 11th overall selection. Waddle, if still on the board, is among them. There are some analysts who believe Giants GM Dave Gettleman prefers Waddle’s Alabama teammate DeVonta Smith if the Giants are going to select a wide receiver in that spot.

The Giants could also feasibly select an offensive lineman, an edge rusher, a cornerback like Patrick Surtain or linebacker Micah Parsons.

Thus, even if Waddle is on the Giants’ radar it wouldn’t seem devastating to them if someone like the Eagles jumped them with Waddle as their guy.
