Mike Glennon is signing with the New York Giants to be their backup quarterback, per published reports.
The reported signing of Glennon likely means that Colt McCoy, who backed up Daniel jones in 2020, won’t be back with New York.
Glennon, 31, is a seven-year veteran. He was a 2013 third-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and spent three seasons there. He has also been with the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars.
In five games for Jacksonville last season, Glennon completed 111 of 179 passes (62 percent) for 1,072 yards. He threw 7 touchdown passes and 5 interceptions.
Glennon has played in 34 games with 27 starts during his career. He has an NFL record of 6-21 as a starting quarterback.
McCoy, who will be 35 in September, went 40 of 66 (60.6 percent) for 375 yards, with a touchdown and an interception for the Giants last season.
