Former wideout and current NFL Network analyst Steve Smith Sr. has a lot to say about the job Dave Gettleman has done so far in free agency. The two have a noted history, as Gettleman was the GM of the Carolina Panthers who cut Smith in 2014. Smith was as vocal then as his is now about his negative opinion of Gettleman, and his comments on the Giants free agency so far echo that same sentiment.
The Athletic’s Sheil Kapaida grades the Leonard Willaims deal as a C+, saying that the Giants are betting on Williams not being “flukey.”
For Ralph Vacchiano, Williams gets an A, John Ross gets a B+, and Gillaspia gets a C- for the Giants Day 2 moves.
Meanwhile, CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin gives the Giants an overall grade of C-.
