Daniel Jones was extremely unlucky this season

PFF keeps track of a statistic called "turnover-worthy plays" where, you guessed it, the play in question was worthy of a turnover. What makes this statistic interesting is the play doesn't have to actually end in a turnover for it to be turnover-worthy, and conversely, not all actual turnovers are turnover-worthy. For example, if a defender drops an INT, that's turnover-worthy, while an Evan Engram batted pass INT is not.

This all relates to Jones because in 2020, despite turning over the ball 21 times, Jones only produced 17 turnover-worthy plays. When you consider the fact that it's already uncommon for turnover-worthy plays to actually result in a turnover (sub 50%), the fact that Jones produced more turnovers than turnover-worthy plays is pretty amazing. What this data tells us is that Jones doesn't have a turnover problem, he was simply unlucky, and we should expect the number of turnovers to drop dramatically next season.
