The New York Giants placed linebacker Carter Coughlin on injured reserve Monday with an ankle injury. The Giants made a series of other roster moves in advance of Monday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Giants activated rookie cornerback Aaron Robinson, the team’s third-round pick, off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. The Giants also signed defensive back Steve Parker off their practice squad and added him to the 53-man roster.

Those two players take the places of Coughlin and Jabrill Peppers.

The Giants are also elevating linebackers Benardrick McKinney and Trent Harris from the practice squad. In addition to Coughlin going on IR, edge defender Lorenzo Carter is dealing with an ankle injury.

Parker, 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, would also make his first appearance in a Giants uniform. He was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 21, released on Oct. 5 and re-signed the next day. In his first two NFL seasons, played in 14 games with four starts for Miami in 2019 and appeared in eight games with Dallas in 2020. Parker has 24 tackles (17 solo) and two interceptions.

Robinson has been on the PUP list with a core muscle injury that needed surgery.

“He’s got real good top-end speed,” Giants coach Joe Judge said last week. “He’s got very good short-area quickness. He has good instincts in terms of matching receivers. He has very good ball skills. He’s got a physical presence to him. That’s one of the things that really jumped out to us when we looked at this guy through college tape and down in Mobile (at the Senior Bowl).

“He’s a physical corner, he really is. Physicality comes into how you tackle but then also how you can play on the line of scrimmage with hands and really go ahead and be disruptive. He does a good job of that. He’s one of those guys when you watch him from across the ball, he doesn’t blink much pre-snap. He’s always looking into it, he’s anticipating moves. Physically, this guy’s got a pretty good skillset.”

Harris played in four games for the Giants last season. McKinney made his debut for the Giants last week and had two solo tackles.
