New York Giants placekicker Graham Gano has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Sunday’s 25-3 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

Gano made field goals of 53, 49 and 44 yards in Sunday’s victory. The 53-yarder made him the Giants’ franchise record holder in field goals of 50 or more yards, breaking a tie with Joe Danelo. Gano accomplished the feat in 23 games. Danelo kicked in 101 games for the Giants over seven seasons.

Gano’s performance was the fourth time in franchise history a kicker made three field goals of 40 or more yards in one game. Gano has three of those four performances.

Gano has made 15 of 17 field-goal attempts this season (88.2 percent). Nick Folk of the New England Patriots leads the league with 16 made field goals. Folk has missed only once.

Gano made 31 of 32 field-goal attempts last season, a career-best 96.9 percent.
