Whether he is fired or allowed to retire, New York Giants fans who voted in our poll on Sunday believe that Dave Gettleman should be out as the team’s general manager.
Thirty percent (451) of the 1,525 voters in our Sunday poll, believe that Gettleman should be allowed to retire. Twenty-six percent (398) of voters believe the Giants should fire Gettleman.
That makes a total of 56 percent who believe the Giants need a new general manager. Only 22 percent (340 voters) believe Gettleman should be retained as GM with no changes in authority. The remaining 22 percent of voters (336) want Gettleman either reassigned or given an assistant.
What should the Giants do at GM?

Fire Dave Gettleman?
Allow Gettleman to retire
Keep Gettleman as GM
Make Gettleman an advisor/consultant
Hire an assistant to help Gettleman
Per Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports, “There are plenty of execs around the NFL who believe Dave Gettleman will either retire or assume a different role with the Giants in the coming days.”
LaCanfora reported that “longtime Patriots executive Nick Caserio might slide right in” as GM if Gettleman is replaced.
In three seasons with Gettleman as GM, the Giants have gone 15-33 with double-digit loss seasons each year.
Coach Joe Judge has been publicly supportive of Gettleman. Because of his previous working relationship with Judge a chance for the Giants to bring in Caserio, if that is indeed the case, might be too tempting for the Giants to pass up.
