The New York Giants have announced the selection of six player captains, chosen by vote of players on the roster, for the 2020 season.

Captains are:

Offense: Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones
Defense: Blake Martinez, Dalvin Tomlinson
Special Teams: Nate Ebner, Jabrill Peppers

Barkley is the only one of the six who was a captain for the Giants in 2019. He was a captain for the first time last season.

Jones, a second-year player, takes the captaincy that had belonged to Eli Manning for the past 13 seasons.

Martinez, an inside linebacker signed as a free agent largely for his ability to quarterback a defense, seemed an obvious choice as a captain. Tomlinson, entering his fourth season, is a first-time captain.

Ebner is in his first season with the Giants after spending eight years with the New England Patriots. Peppers, a starting safety, is an interesting choice as a special teams captain. He could be used as a return man.
