Who will wind up on the Giants practice squad?

The New York Giants have officially made their big cut down to their initial 53-man roster following training camp. Take particular note of the “initial” in “initial 53-man roster”, because there are still a lot of moving pieces with the Giants’ roster. The Giants will likely be moving rookie safety Xavier McKinney to IR, and veteran linebacker David Mayo could be heading that way as well.

So we should keep in mind that players who were cut Saturday afternoon could find themselves signed to the practice squad Sunday, and promoted to the active roster by Monday.

We could also see a second wave of cuts if the Giants make moves to acquire players who were released by any of the other 31 teams.

For now we’ll just make an initial projection for the Giants’ initial 2020 practice squad with the understanding that things are going to be very fluid over the next few days and weeks.

This year is unique in that practice squads have been expanded to 16 players, six of whom can be of any experience level.
