Good morning, New York Giants fans! Yes, it is September already.

Wayne Gallman making strong first impression

During two seasons with Pat Shurmur as head coach, running back Wayne Gallman seemed to slide further and further into the background. Entering his fourth season, the arrival of a new coaching staff has meant a new opportunity for Gallman.

“I wouldn’t say necessarily starting over. But the first impression is everything. If there’s a new coaching staff, of course you want to make sure you’re on your Ps and Qs, make sure that you’re doing the right things, and also just being focused. Just coming to work every day with the mindset of just being great.”

Gallman has had a good training camp, and the recent waiving of running back.kick returner Javon Leake is likely an indication he will be part of the 53-man roster.

Logan Ryan contract

Ryan’s deal with the Giants was reported as one year, $7.5 million. Pro Football Talk reported Monday night that the is actually a $5 million deal that includes a $3.5 million signing bonus. There are playing time incentives worth $1.5 million that Ryan could be considered likely to reach. There are bonuses for Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections worth $1 million that are unlikely, as Ryan has never received those honors in seven NFL seasons.

All of that makes a good deal for the Giants look even better.
