ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to trade EDGE Yannick Ngakoue to the Minnesota Vikings.
This news obviously comes as a disappointment to New York Giants fans, who have long targeted Ngakoue as an upgrade to the Giants' pass rush.
Now that the door has closed on adding Ngakoue, the question remains whether the Giants should have made a stronger push for him.
The big obstacle is, obviously, the price of acquiring Ngakoue once the Jaguars put the franchise tag on him.
The price, a second and conditional fifth (potentially third) round pick doesn't seem like an exorbitant price for young player as consistently disruptive as Ngakoue. However, the Giants and Vikings are teams in very different positions.
The Giants might not have felt like parting with significant draft capital in a rebuild was a worthwhile investment. There's also the matter of Ngakoue's eventual contract, which will be expensive and will only go up if he has a strong season.
So, Giants fans, should the Giants have made a run at Ngakoue, or are they better served to save their resources for coming seasons?
