Good morning, New York Giants fans!

No hiding for Darius Slayton

Darius Slayton wore a mask during a videoconference with reporters on Wednesday because it’s “just a habit” as he follows COVID-19 protocols. The masked man, though, won’t be able to hide from opposing defenses this season after an impressive rookie season that saw him catch 48 passes.

There are hopes that Slayton, a fifth-round pick, can develop into the Giants’ No. 1 receiver. He isn’t putting that kind of pressure on himself.

“When the ball gets thrown my way, I’ll make plays when I have the opportunity to. Just kind of go from there,” he said.

The Giants never had Slayton, Golden Tate, Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram and Saquon Barkley on the field at the same time last season. Right now, all appear healthy.

“I hope everybody can stay healthy this year and hopefully play a full 16 together,” Slayton said. “I definitely think it will be really important to have all of us out there at the same time.”

Slayton said he thought the Giants could be “an explosive offense.” He said Jason Garrett’s offense “does a really good job of harnessing all of our weapons on our offensive skill set.”

“I think the offense does a really good job holistically of getting everyone involved. Everybody will have a chance to get the ball and have the opportunity to make plays.”
