Mock drafters remain convinced that the New York Giants will most likely use their first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, which will be No. 4 overall unless they engineer a trade, on an offensive lineman.
In this week’s iteration of the tracker we are using 40 of the most reputable recent mock draft. Thirty one of the 40 (77.5 percent) chose an offensive lineman.
Tristan Wirfs of Iowa and Mekhi Becton of Louisville were each selected in 12 of those mock drafts (30 percent). Jedrick Wills of Alabama was the choice in seven mock drafts (17.5 percent).
The only other player selected multiple times was Clemson defender Isaiah Simmons (seven selections, 17.5 percent).
Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown and Ohio State cornerback Jeffrey Okudah were each selected once.
Entering free agency, using their first selection in the draft on one of the premier offensive tackles does seem like the most logical course of action for the Giants. Will next week’s free agent frenzy change that?
We’ll see.
