The New York Giants on Thursday announced that they have waived offensive tackle George Asafo-Adjei with a “failed physical” designation.
Asafo-Adjei, a right tackle from Kentucky, was one of the Giants’ two seventh-round picks in 2019. He suffered a concussion during one of the early training camp practices and was placed on season-ending injured reserve on Aug. 31.
With Mike Remmers expected to leave the Giants in free agency, this exacerbates the Giants’ need to fortify the tackle position this offseason.
The Giants also made official the re-signing of fullback Elijhaa Penny, news that was first reported on Wednesday evening. The 6-foot-1, 250-pound Penny spent the last two seasons with the Giants.
