Good morning, New York Giants fans!

Pete Carroll: “Look out” for NFC East winner

Pete Carroll was coach of the Seattle Seahawks when they won the NFC West in 2010 with a 7-9 record. Seattle won a playoff game that year before being eliminated.

“I don’t think it should be judged by how many games you won. If you win your division, you win your division. That’s the way it was then, that’s the way it is now, and I don’t think there’s any problem with it,” Carroll said. “Whoever comes out of that division, the division champ, whoever plays them better look out. There’s a lot going on that side of it in what you want to prove and how you want to go about it. I know we had a real rousing game at that time in that opportunity and our guys played great football. That’s what you’ve got to do to win the game and go to the next one.”

Roster moves

Defensive back Montre Hartage and placekicker/punter Ryan Santoso cleared waivers and were both added to the Giants practice squad on Wednesday.

Hartage has played in one game for the Giants this season. Santoso spent most of the season the practice squad, but was signed to the 53-man roster when placekicker Graham Gano was on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Blake Martinez lauds “incredible” Russell Wilson

Giants’ linebacker Blake Martinez, asked to describe Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson, was effusive in his praise.

“I don’t know if the media session is long enough. But I think he’s just able to do it all. He’s able to extend plays, make the deep ball passes, get the guys in the right check at the right time, make the big plays when they’re needed to be made, knows how to get his team back in the game,” Martinez said. “I can keep going on and on. He’s just an incredible player.”
